John Grosspietsch

John Grosspietsch

Principal Engineer III

Dr. Grosspietsch joined Roberson and Associates in 2014 and has over 40 years’ experience in the industry.  Serves as an adjunct professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Northwestern University.  He focuses on spectrum compatibility measurement and analysis.

Previously, Dr. Grosspietsch was a Fellow of the Technical Staff at Motorola Solutions, where he managed research projects in advanced communications systems technologies for mission critical public safety and Smart Grid applications in the Enterprise Mobility Solutions Research Group. He also led a variety of research projects in Software Defined Radio and Cognitive Radio technologies at Motorola Labs.

From 2004 to 2007 Dr. Grosspietsch chaired the Software Defined Radio (SDR) Forum Working Group on Cognitive Radio. He joined Motorola in 1989 in the Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Research Laboratory within the Chicago System and Technology Laboratory. He worked on many mixed-signal Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) IC design projects for Motorola products, including cellular telephones. Prior to joining Motorola, he designed low power mixed signal CMOS adaptive filter signal processing systems for hearing aid applications. He has 15 U.S. patents.

Dr. Grosspietsch earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, all from Illinois Institute of Technology.
