Charles Malek

Charles Malek

Principal Engineer II

Mr. Malek joined Roberson and Associates in August, 2015, and has 44 years' experience in the industry.  He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Prior to joining Roberson and Associates, Mr. Malek acquired extensive experience in wireless and embedded systems design for the avionics and aerospace, public safety, consumer, cellular, medical device, and semiconductor industries. He was the wireless subject matter expert (SME) and consulting engineer for Hospira’s Android Enterprise Wi-Fi infusion pumps. He was Principal Systems Engineer at Rockwell Collins, involved in Graphical Flight Planning techniques and Satellite Communications (SATCOM). He worked at Hamilton Sundstrand on airliner electric power generation systems. He was a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Motorola and was a Principal Engineer at National Semiconductor, working on chip designs for cordless and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) telephones.

At National Semiconductor University, Mr. Malek was appointed faculty and taught CDMA and communications theory. He is the named inventor on 20 issued U.S. utility patents covering cellular, public safety radio, and cordless technologies.

Mr. Malek is a Commercial Pilot, Instructor Pilot, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Ground Instructor. He is the recipient of several industry awards, including the National Semiconductor Nif/T Innovation Award, National Semiconductor Outstanding Business Performance, Motorola Distinguished Innovator, Motorola Invention Award for the Key Variable Loader, Motorola Special MEIP award for the dummy traffic generator, and National Council of Examiners for Engineering Surveying (NCEES) Model Law Engineer.

He was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a registered Professional Engineer in the States of Illinois and California. He is admitted to the Patent Bar and is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
